There’s a lovely article up on the NPR website’s homepage about Mendelsohn’s latest work, How Beautiful It Is and How Easily It Can Be Broken, including an excerpt and a link to an audio file.
A while back, I read and reviewed Mendelsohn’s book The Lost: A Search for Six among Six Million. The story, excuse me, stories, he told in that book were compelling, conveyed with both compassion and detachment, not an easy mix. He has a rare gift for handling words firmly, with respect, and as the title of his newest book suggests, an awareness of the inherent delicacy of meaning.
Here’s the link. Enjoy.
